Power to Prosper Spiritually
This teaching will help us see how to prosper in our spiritual lives.
In order to understand and appreciate the awesomeness of what we have today we need to get some background on why this subject is so important.
Let’s start from the beginning: Genesis 2:7 (16,17,22)
Man was formed, made, and created in the beginning:
7 – And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
16-17 – And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die
There is much figurative language in the Bible. This “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” was likely not an actual tree but a representation of sin. God gave both humans and the Angels freewill to choose to live righteously, or to rebel and choose to live in opposition to what God says is right and true. The same principle applies today where you and I have the same choice.
It’s worth noting that God gave only Adam the commandment in the Garden to “not eat of it” and Eve had not yet been created. We read on in verse 22:
22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man..
It was Adam’s responsibility to give this information to his wife, and to correct her error when she chose to “eat of it.” It appears that he made here aware of the possibility for error since she seemed to know that she was not supposed to partake of the “tree.”
Genesis 3:6-7 – And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked
Both Adam and Eve shared equally in this decision of error as both of them accepted it. God inquires about their actions:
Genesis 3:12-13 – ..And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest [to be] with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What [is] this [that] thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat..
At this point, man lost his spiritual connection with God! This was a great spiritual tragedy! Now mankind was only body and soul, there was no spiritual connection with God any longer. This trick of the serpent put separation between God and man and brought about the need for a redeemer to restore that spiritual connection that was lost. The book of Matthew prophecies of the coming redeemer:
Matthew 1:21 – And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Jesus Christ was sent to restore that connection between God and Man that was lost in the beginning with Adam and Eve.
I Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Why is this important?
God is the creator of the heavens and the earth, [Gen 1:1] He is pure, [James 3:17] He is love [I John 4:16] He is good always, He is the author of life, the beginning and the end, [Rev 1:8] in Him is light and no darkness at all! [I John 1:5] And our only means of access to this wonderful loving God is becoming born again through his son, Jesus Christ!
I John 5:13-15 – These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
We get access to God through believing on His son… Now we will learn how to utilize that access to have spiritual power in our lives!
So how do we prosper spiritually? It is simple.
We prosper spiritually by keeping our fellowship with God sweet and walking on His Word.
Ephesians 6:12 – For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Our fights are not fought on a battlefield like the Old Testament believers. Our fight is a spiritual one.
We equip our minds and hearts to conquer spiritual darkness and overcome it with God’s light.
There is a spiritual competition going on around us all the time although we cannot see it with our 5 senses. As we keep the spiritual bond with God strong he will help us accomplish his will and give us spiritual strength.
The first key to spiritual power is getting and keeping the vertical relationship with God in alignment. We do this by learning from the Word how to fellowship with Him.
John 4:24 – God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
We worship God in Spirit and in truth. God makes his will known by his word, and we worship him through our holy spirit within.
The second key to spiritual power is applying the knowledge we gain from the Word of God. In our Way of Abundance & Power classes we learn about the 9 manifestations of holy spirit and how they are everything we need to walk with power spiritually.
I Corinthians 12:7-11 – But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
When we are born again, all 9 manifestations are built into that gift of holy spirit. Just as a baby has all the potential to become an adult human when it is born. All the parents need to do is nurture and build up the child and it will grow. The gift of holy spirit is the same. It needs to be nurtured and built up too. We do this by praying, operating the manifestations of holy spirit (especially speaking in tongues) and walking every day with our heavenly father.

Ephesians 3:16 – That he [God] would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by His spirit in the inner man;
The inner man is referring to our spirit. As we operate the manifestation of speaking in tongues, that spirit is edified and strengthened with might. Our holy spirit within becomes more powerful!
We can speak in tongues abundantly in our private prayer life and God has an open door to pour on the grace and blessings.
I Peter 1:23 – Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Born once corruptible – born again incorruptible.
I John 2:25 – And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
God has given us power in his gift of holy spirit.
2 Peter 1:3 – According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Let’s continue to walk with God mightily and see that spiritual power in our lives!
