Showing Love in The Church

We will be looking at what it means to show love to one another in the household of Faith.  Galatians 6 contains the theme verse for this subject:

Galatians 6:10 – As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

The three points to take away from this verse are:

  1. “As we have therefore opportunity” This means “whenever an opportunity arises” we take action!
  2. “Let us do good unto ALL men” This means that we are to be loving and gracious to ALL. (“Men” is generic, meaning All People)
  3. “Especially unto them who are of the household of faith”                           We are good to all, and especially good to each other as fellow believers!

Here are some examples from the scripture for how to show love in the household of God:

1 John 4:7:Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Basically just love other people and be available for them!  Give your life and time to whomever has a need. Give of your abundance and watch as God rewards you.

Each one of us can also communicate knowledge with one another, instructing, leading, and sharing the Word of God.

Out of all the things that you can do with your life and time, putting God first is the most important!

Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

God has given us such freedom and grace in this day and time.  It would be easy to take His grace for granted.  Instead we are to love and serve one another with God’s love at the center of our lives.

beach-sunsetMark 12:30-31And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these

If you take away anything from this sermon, remember this principle. It is very important and sums up the grace administration in which we live beautifully.

“Love God and Love People”

What are the benefits of living this way?

Romans 8:28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his [God’s] purpose.

As we live in God’s love, all things work together for good in our lives.  We may not always have all the answers, but we know who does!

I John 4:4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

“God knows all about you and still loves you”

“God so loved that He gave; now we must so give that others can learn to live”

God Bless You!

Edifying our Families

We will be looking at the power we have as we edify one another in our families.

It is a great privilege and responsibility that we have been given – To edify, bless, and take care of our families – Both our physical family and our spiritual family which is the body of Christ.

We are called to be a great example of how to live the Word as we edify one another in love.

Ephesians 4:15-16,29 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:  From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

I love the simplicity and encouragement in these scriptures. We are to speak the truth, grow up, love people, align our lives with God’s word, work as a team in the household, edify one another with our words, and minister grace to those around us.

I want to read a quote from Zig Ziglar.   He was a successful salesman, motivational speaker and born-again Christian.  I thought his perspective on people might bless you.

“When you look for gold you literally move tons of dirt to find one ounce of gold.  When you work with people you also have to sift through lots of stuff to find the good inside.”

Look for the “gold” in people amid all the dirt. – If you edify the gold, the dirt disappears.  We can see one another the way God sees us.

Romans 14:19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

We are to be a friend to people and follow after the things that make for peace by edification.  It is not God’s will to have division among our families.

“If you go out looking for friends, you’re going to find they are very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.”
– Zig Ziglar

I would like to read another great quote to you.  As I was putting this teaching together, I searched the internet on “edifying one another in love” and just by chance came across this awesome document written by a woman named Kimberly Webb.  She is referring specifically to the marriage relationship here, but this certainly applies to anyone:

sunset couple“Begin by speaking life into the areas where a person is not functioning well. When he or she does something good, talk to them and tell them how much you appreciate what they are doing and how you believe in them. Do you know how powerful this is? You will have strengthened and boosted their confidence in God and in themselves. You are releasing them to be the man or woman of God they were purposed to be, a wise one led by the Lord. What a powerful role we have. – Supporting and encouraging our families to be guided and directed by God’s wisdom. Our families can’t help but be blessed, our finances can’t help but be increased and our lives can’t help but be anointed by God.”

(Paraphrased from this paper)

What a great paragraph. Not only do we learn what we are supposed to do, but also the benefits of doing so!

Love may not always be convenient, but it is always worth it. We manifest God’s love when we give and serve in love.

We can speak life into our families and friends. Our confession about ourselves and about other people is what will be manifested.

As we edify one another we will certainly be blessed as God honors his Word!

God Bless You!

Power to Prosper Spiritually

Power to Prosper Spiritually

This teaching will help us see how to prosper in our spiritual lives.

In order to understand and appreciate the awesomeness of what we have today we need to get some background on why this subject is so important.

Let’s start from the beginning: Genesis 2:7 (16,17,22)

Man was formed, made, and created in the beginning:

7 – And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

16-17 – And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die

There is much figurative language in the Bible.  This “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” was likely not an actual tree but a representation of sin.  God gave both humans and the Angels freewill to choose to live righteously, or to rebel and choose to live in opposition to what God says is right and true.  The same principle applies today where you and I have the same choice.

It’s worth noting that God gave only Adam the commandment in the Garden to “not eat of it” and Eve had not yet been created.  We read on in verse 22:

22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man..

It was Adam’s responsibility to give this information to his wife, and to correct her error when she chose to “eat of it.”  It appears that he made here aware of the possibility for error since she seemed to know that she was not supposed to partake of the “tree.”

Genesis 3:6-7 – And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.   And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked

Both Adam and Eve shared equally in this decision of error as both of them accepted it.  God inquires about their actions:

Genesis 3:12-13 – ..And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest [to be] with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What [is] this [that] thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat..

At this point, man lost his spiritual connection with God! This was a great spiritual tragedy!  Now mankind was only body and soul, there was no spiritual connection with God any longer.  This trick of the serpent put separation between God and man and brought about the need for a redeemer to restore that spiritual connection that was lost.  The book of Matthew prophecies of the coming redeemer:

Matthew 1:21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Jesus Christ was sent to restore that connection between God and Man that was lost in the beginning with Adam and Eve.

I Timothy 2:5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Why is this important?

God is the creator of the heavens and the earth, [Gen 1:1] He is pure, [James 3:17] He is love [I John 4:16] He is good always, He is the author of life, the beginning and the end, [Rev 1:8] in Him is light and no darkness at all! [I John 1:5] And our only means of access to this wonderful loving God is becoming born again through his son, Jesus Christ!

I John 5:13-15These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

We get access to God through believing on His son… Now we will learn how to utilize that access to have spiritual power in our lives!

So how do we prosper spiritually? It is simple.

We prosper spiritually by keeping our fellowship with God sweet and walking on His Word.

Ephesians 6:12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Our fights are not fought on a battlefield like the Old Testament believers. Our fight is a spiritual one.

We equip our minds and hearts to conquer spiritual darkness and overcome it with God’s light.

There is a spiritual competition going on around us all the time although we cannot see it with our 5 senses. As we keep the spiritual bond with God strong he will help us accomplish his will and give us spiritual strength.

The first key to spiritual power is getting and keeping the vertical relationship with God in alignment. We do this by learning from the Word how to fellowship with Him.

John 4:24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

We worship God in Spirit and in truth. God makes his will known by his word, and we worship him through our holy spirit within.

The second key to spiritual power is applying the knowledge we gain from the Word of God.  In our Way of Abundance & Power classes we learn about the 9 manifestations of holy spirit and how they are everything we need to walk with power spiritually.

I Corinthians 12:7-11But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

When we are born again, all 9 manifestations are built into that gift of holy spirit. Just as a baby has all the potential to become an adult human when it is born. All the parents need to do is nurture and build up the child and it will grow. The gift of holy spirit is the same. It needs to be nurtured and built up too. We do this by praying, operating the manifestations of holy spirit (especially speaking in tongues) and walking every day with our heavenly father.

For more information on Speaking in Tongues, Interpretation of Tongues, and Prophecy (the utterance manifestations) please contact me here

Ephesians 3:16That he [God] would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by His spirit in the inner man;

The inner man is referring to our spirit. As we operate the manifestation of speaking in tongues, that spirit is edified and strengthened with might. Our holy spirit within becomes more powerful!

We can speak in tongues abundantly in our private prayer life and God has an open door to pour on the grace and blessings.

I Peter 1:23 – Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Born once corruptible – born again incorruptible.

I John 2:25 – And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

God has given us power in his gift of holy spirit.

2 Peter 1:3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Let’s continue to walk with God mightily and see that spiritual power in our lives!
